There are still a lot of people who have never heard of what ‘boba’ is. In some locations, people may call it “pearls”, “tapioca”, “bubble tea”, or maybe even just “black balls”.
Boba was originally made in Taiwan as a popular topping to add to their teas or milk teas. There have been many variations of boba since, including popping boba, colored boba, or honey boba. But it is essentially a popular topping made of carbohydrates and starch that is added to a drink, making it a go-to dessert drink for many people.
You can even get a drink without the actual boba if you would like to enjoy the tea itself or you could add other toppings offered such as grass jelly, pudding, lychee, aloe vera, etc.
